MBBR Wastewater Treatment Technology

What is Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor (MBBR) Technology?

The MBBR Wastewater Treatment process uses a moving bed of biofilm carriers (plastic or ceramic) inside the biological reactor to treat wastewater. These carriers provide surface area for microorganisms to grow, which break down organic pollutants and contaminants in the water.

Unlike conventional activated sludge systems, MBBR reactors offer compact design, higher treatment capacity in smaller space, and stable performance — making them ideal for industries and municipalities with limited area.

How Does an MBBR Wastewater Treatment Reactor Work?

Biofilm Carriers

Floating plastic media covered with biofilm increase biomass concentration inside the reactor.

Aeration Chambers

Oxygen is injected to keep carriers moving, ensuring efficient biodegradation.

Enhanced Performance

MLSS concentrations of 4,000–8,000 mg/L can be achieved, 2x higher than conventional systems.
